Coach - Laura Littrell
Since I was young, I’ve always been involved in sport, be it hockey for the County, basketball and netball -to name a few.
Yet football has always been my passion.
From what began playing with my friends at the park then progressed to playing at grassroots level before beginning my time at Swindon Spitfires.
During my time at Secondary school I was given the opportunity to attend a Junior Sports Leadership Award – teaching primary school children. I believe this is where my enjoyment for coaching first began.
As a young mother, football had unfortunately been put on the back-burner, before my son joined a local side and I was kindly offered a coaching position.
My time here was very beneficial despite it somewhat challenging in finding the balance of being a parent as well as a coach.
Fast forward a few years to where my son joined Kingsdown FC.
Shorly in to his time I had read a post seeking Ladies to join/ create a pathway for younger girls.
From the get go – I identified the clubs desire to enable women to have the same, if not more opportunities as men’s football.
On my first session I fell back in love with playing the game, a personal goal I had been trying to reach since becoming a mother.
I was soon offered a coaching assistant role within the Ladies team alongside Simon Bradbury – a fantastic mentor.
My confidence grew not only in my coaching abilities but as a player too.
Gaining this confidence allowed me to then agree to take on the U’11s with Nichola. We have an outstanding group of girls and I am reminded every time i see them progress that I made the best decision in returning to coaching.
I look forward to a prosperous season with both the Ladies and Girls.
