PARENTS

We always strive to meet exceptional standards in the way our club is run, and we place our players’ welfare at the heart of everything we do.

We’re always looking for ways to do things better, so the feedback we receive from parents, players and supporters is vital to us. If you have any concerns, comments or suggestions for improvement, please let one of the coaching staff or committee members know. We’re always open to your thoughts and ideas.

You will be aware that all our players benefit from a match kit and training apparel; provided by the club and incorporated into your membership fees. We have just invested in all our players, as we re-brand from our previous club name, Lydiard Youth to Kingsdown Lions. That represented a huge financial investment.

Additional kit may be supplied by your relevant team, subject to sponsorship income. Should you have any sponsorship opportunities please contact your Team Manager, the Committee or our Commercial Department – commercial@kingsdownlions.com

We welcome parents purchasing additional items over the club provision. Please click on the catalogue and price list to select your additional items for your son or daughter. We also have a coaches/manager section along that parents may like to purchase club approved apparel to wear as you support the players and team.

We have many requests from parents to purchase additional spare kit or extra items, the club shop enables you to do that.

MEMBERSHIP FEES & MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION

Our membership fees cover the hire of all pitches, training equipment and kit (which must be returned if players leave), astroturf/indoor training during the Winter months, FA CRB checks for all volunteers, and FA courses for our staff including safeguarding and first aid.

But most importantly, the fees cover the insurance for our players in the unfortunate event that they suffer an injury. It’s therefore vital that payments to the club are kept up-to-date, as failure to do so will mean that your child won’t be insured in the event of injury.

We ask all new parents when registering their child for our club to complete and return a Standing Order form to their bank or building society or for online banking. Additional copies are available from the Club Treasurer. However if parents would like more flexibility when making payments, please speak with the Club Treasurer as we can help.

SAFEGUARDING

Safeguarding of the children playing football with our club is of paramount importance. With this in mind, Kingsdown Lions FC has added the Click CEOP button to its club website.

CEOP is a command of the National Crime Agency and is dedicated to tackling the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and young people.

The Click CEOP button provides a gateway to the CEOP Safety Centre, an area of the CEOP website offering:

  • Information and advice on “Should I make a report to CEOP?”, “What happens when I make a report?” and “How can CEOP help me?”
  • Signposting to CEOP partners, such as Childline, who can offer help and support on issues outside of CEOP’s remit, which includes online bullying.
  • Reporting of suspected or known child sex offender activity directly to CEOP for investigation. Every report will be read by a Child Protection Advisor within the CEOP Child Protection team.

The button has been developed for children and young people and is offered as a convenient and potentially less intimidating method of reporting these sensitive types of crime, alternative to face-to-face and telephone reporting to local police forces. It provides children and young people with access to an online mechanism for reporting known or suspected child sexual exploitation or child sexual abuse directly to CEOP.

If any parent has an issue they need to talk about and the club’s CWO isn’t available. You can call the FA/NSPCC’s 24 hour hotline on

Committee Members

Since I joined Kingsdown Lions (formerly Lydiard Youth) nearly 10 years ago, I’ve seen the club grow enormously. This growth has spanned the number of teams, the number and diversity of the players and coaches and of course our standing amongst our peers in Wiltshire Grassroots sport.

It’s with great pride that I find myself in the privileged position of Chairman of the club. Having the support of our committee of highly motivated volunteers makes the job both rewarding and enjoyable. It even affords me the luxury of continuing to indulge my passion for grassroots football as coach to a couple of our U18s sides.

Whilst we have seen huge success in the last few years, we will not rest on our laurels as we have plans for continued growth at youth level (both boys and girls) and soon hope to be complimenting our First Team with a Development team and a Women’s First team too.

Watch this space for more on these exciting developments and of course, if you would like to offer any help (practical or advisory) please feel free to reach out to me.

My role is to ensure that all of our legal obligations are met and that we have all our children, teams and coaches registered correctly.  A big part of my role is to liaise with our coaching staff, the league, the County FA and the school where the club is based.  I am responsible for ensuring that everyone is aware of changes to games and teams.

I am an active member of the KLFC committee and work closely with all members of the committee.  Particularly the Chairman (Andy Atwell), Treasurer (Mike Davis), CWO (Emma Ponting) and the Development Officer (Simon Bradbury).

Hi, I’m Rich Clifford and I’m the current U10 Red & U16 coach, I work full time as a Data programmer, but my passion is football.  So, when I stopped playing (some years ago) coaching was the next logical step and something I’ve now been doing for 20 years.  9 of those years have been at Lydiard Youth/Kingsdown Lions which I became involved with when my son decided he wanted to play.

I hold the FA Level 1 coaching qualification and am a member of The FA Licensed Coaches’ Club which includes regularly updated Safeguarding and Emergency First Aid courses (including Defibrillators use) and I’m fully CRC checked. I am also part of the Committee here at Kingsdown Lions FC and hold the roles of Coach Liaison Officer & Respect Officer.

My aim, as a coach, is to teach my team all the skills they need to become the best footballers they can be but also to help build confidence and great friendships through trust and teamwork – something that will benefit them both on and off the pitch.  As a team (coach, players and parents) we expect a lot from each other, but these expectations are bound by encouragement, support, fun and inspiring each other to work hard and try our best so we can achieve whatever we put our minds to.
